Introduction to Mark - Journey Through The One-Year Bible (My Bridge Radio)
Sepharim 'al ha-miqra’: Books about the Scriptures (Mark)

Edwards, J. R
. The Gospel according to Mark. PNTC. Eerdmans, 2002 (552 pp.). On the Pillar commentaries, see Morris above. Much more concerned than France (below) with making sense of the watch than in pulling it apart to see how it was constructed (the metaphor is Polzin’s). A Bible study-friendly, verse-by-verse commentary, with special attention to literary themes and theological content, by one who has devoted 30 years to the study of Mark. Learned, well- organized, and accessible to pastors and other serious students.

France, R. T. The Gospel of Mark. NIGTC. Eerdmans, 2002 (719 pp.). A more critical approach than Edwards (above), with considerable engagement of historical and linguistic issues. Reader-friendly, but its best friends will be those with facility in Greek. Displays much erudition, but frequent appeal to source material runs the danger of distracting attention from the storyline of the Gospel itself. Interacts with major trends in Marcan study. Better for in-depth personal study and research than corporate Bible study or Sunday school.
