A study and resource institute serving the Church and its Kingdom mission with
a focus on scriptural interpretation, theological reflection, and biblical proclamation.
“And they read in the book, in the Torah of God, interpreting clearly;
and they gave the sense, so that the people understood the reading [Heb. miqra’].”
Nehemiah 8:8
SUMMER FEATURE–THE BOOK OF DANIEL
The
summer issue of MIQRA and the July 31
seminar will feature the book of Daniel. Journal articles will
offer a wide-ranging introduction and overview of Daniel, a
discussion of common pitfalls often encountered in the reading and
preaching of Daniel, and some reflections on key issues in the
history of Daniel interpretation. Seminar sessions will examine
more closely several passages within the book as well as the nature
of Daniel as a “wisdom” book and its function in the Hebrew canon.
As always, the emphasis will remain on the impact of these insights
on interpreting and proclaiming the message of Daniel. To subscribe
to the MIQRA journal or to register for the seminar, go to
the respective tabs.
NEW RESOURCES PAGE
Our Book Review pages have been transformed into Resources pages. The biblical-commentary reviews remain and will continue to grow in number, but we also will be adding articles, lectures, papers, and short radio spots introducing biblical books. You can now download or listen to one-minute introductions to the books of Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, Deuteronomy, Joshua, Judges, Samuel, Psalms, Proverbs, Ruth, Mark, Luke, and John. Be sure to check back frequently as additional resources will be added periodically. Also, be sure to mention these resources to others for whom they would be of interest and benefit. One-minute introductions added 7/15/10: Kings, Chronicles, Acts, and Romans.
